These are rules and policies usually used in my physical classroon and are temporarily on hold for Distance Learning. Please refer to the Distance Teaching and Learning Expectations Page for the relevant rules and expectations.
Rules
General Rules
While our English classroom won't be QUITE as intense as what the picture of the rules above suggests, I will be enforcing some rules so the class runs smoothly:

Policies
Assignments & Exams
- General homework assignments will be collected after opening activities in each period unless otherwise stated.
- Students will have as many days as days of excuse absences to make up work; i.e. if you were sick for 2 days, you will have 2 days to turn in the work that was missed.
Participation
Everything is more fun when you are engaged! One of the best ways to understand material is learning by doing. No one has ever gotten anywhere without making at least a few mistakes, so don't be afraid to try even if you're unsure! The classroom is the place to make mistakes! Make them now so you have a chance to fix them in a safe space rather than making the mistakes when they count (like when you're working a job...).

Grading Scale and Weighting
You must work for the grade that you want. Remember that your work reflects upon you, so do the best that you can.
A+ 99-100 B+ 89-87
A 93-98 B 86-83
A- 92-90 B- 82-80
Cs and Ds follow the B percentages above...
59 and Below F
Grades are weighted in different categories according to the district: Assessments (60%-80%), Homework/Classwork (15%-25%). Actual weighted percentages depend on the course itself and will be explained to students enrolled in their respective course. Because grades are weighted, it is possible to do well on all assessments (tests, projects, and essays) and still not get an A if a student does not complete any homework or classwork.

Academic Honesty
Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated. YOU are the one in class and learning, so YOU should be the one doing the work. Any work that is not your own will receive a zero.
These short YouTube videos may help define what plagiarism is and the consequences of plagiarism, even accidental plagiarism.
